The flash floods that shattered lives, destroyed properties, changed the landscape of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City and many towns and cities that crossed the path of Tropical Storm Washi (Local name: Sendong) on December 16–17, 2011 was a disaster that will be remembered for a long time. It will be remembered not only because it was the worst natural disaster in the Philippines in 2011 but because it was the first time in 100 years that a typhoon of such magnitude traversed through Cagayan de Oro and Iligan before it exited the country.

Typhoon Sendong Relief With Gift-Giving Donations


Since Typhoon Sendong hit northern Mindanao in mid December, 2011, PhilDHRRA-Mindanao Member NGOs have been hard at work supporting the disaster relief efforts of the DSWD and other national agencies, providing relief supplies and services to the hardest hit areas of northern Mindanao.
