About SCFI
Historical Development
The South Cotabato Foundation, Inc. (SCFI) was organized in 1981 purposely to serve as a development organization for South Cotabato, working as development partner of marginalized and underdeveloped communities of the Province.
It actually started as the Community Extension Services of the Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) and transformed itself into a separate entity.
SCFI was registered as a non-stock, non-profit private development organization with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 19, 1983 with Registration Number 112703. Its early programs and projects were implemented in partnership with NDMU, but maintaining its own administrative and operational independence. It targeted upland farmers of South Cotabato as its priority sector for development intervention.
Beginning 1989, SCFI completely became independent from NDMU and continued to implement its programs and projects, even expanding its coverage areas to surrounding provinces of Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat, and the city of General Santos.
Since then, SCFI has remained one of the most active development-oriented non-government organizations (NGO) in South Cotabato implementing various community development projects, in partnership with different national and international funding donors, local government units, national government agencies, and other local NGOs.
