Convenio Provides Livelihood SupportConvenio 07-Co1-031 through PhilDHRRA, its NGO partner implementer, provided livelihood support to 90 beneficiaries in the barangays of San Isidro in Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte, Budlingin, Camp Edward in Alegria, and San Pablo in Tubod, Surigao del Norte. A total of 64 beneficiaries have availed of production inputs and another 26 received cash support for revolving fund under the Productivity Systems Development (PSD) component. Of the beneficiaries, 85 of the 90 are women. |

455 Scholars Receive School SuppliesFor the school year 2011-2012, a total of 455 scholars from six barangays in the Municipalities of Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte and Alegria & Tubod, Surigao del Norte received school supplies from Convenio 07-Co1-031, a project facilitated by the PhilDHRRA North Caraga team. The scholars consisted of 259 elementary pupils and 196 high school students who are enrolled in six elementary schools and five High schools. Of the scholars, 237 are female and 218 are male. |

Convenio Refurbishes Budlingin Daycare CenterResidents of Barangay Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte, expressed their gratitude for their newly repaired Daycare Center. Parents, and the 27 children currently enrolled, are amazed and happy with the new and improved look of their Daycare Center: newly painted roofs, walls and ceilings, glass jalousies, new doors, paved entranced, repaired gate and improved fence and tiled toilets, were some of the improvements. |

First Farmer-Based Agro-Meteorological Station
San Francisco, Agusan del Sur – PhilDHRRA Mindanao launched the first of its two farmer-based Agro-Meteorological Stations in Barangay Tagbayani, Municipality of Sison, in the Province of Surigao del Norte, on June 2, 2011. The Agro-Meteorological station will record atmospheric temperature, evaporation rate and rainfall in the area. The meteorological station in Surigao del Norte is operated and maintained by a 5-person team of Para-Agro-Meteorologists, trained by PhilDHRRA Agricultural Water Specialist Engr. Rejean J. Zulueta, RPAE. The data collected by the meteorological station will be stored in a computerized database system, maintained by the team headed by Lita Trajano, and will be used by the community to study the impact of climate change, with the objective of designing a community-based climate change adaptation strategy. |

Microfinance In South Cotabato Project Update
The Project for Provision of Micro-credit Capital for Augmentation of Income and Poverty Alleviation in South Cotabato was recently approved for funding by the Embassy of Japan, through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). The grant contract signing was accomplished at the Embassy of Japan in Manila on November 25, 2010.
