Last November 4, 2008, the Northern Mindanao Cluster of PhilDHRRA Mindanao members have come together for a one-day fellowship and gathering at PhilDHRRA Northern Mindanao Office in Cagayan de Oro City. Cluster members present in the one-day affair are: AGB, GROUP, KAANIB, HSPFI, MASSPECC, MUCAARD and TOUCH. Member ATC earlier asked to be excused due to conflict in schedule.

PhilDHRRA-Mindanao will host a Roundtable Discussion on Community Organizing on September 15-16, 2008 at the Mindanao Training Resource Center, Davao City.   Bannered by the theme “Challenges and Prospects of Community Organizing in Mindanao” the activity hopes to focus discussion on the current state of community organizing work of NGOs in Mindanao, their difficulties in advancing the approach, factors that lead to the gradual demise of CO promotion and advocacy, sharing of innovative approaches in advancing CO work amidst policy constraints by some donors or ODA arrangements, exchanging experiences in CO application in various cultural contexts, some prospects for CO advancement amidst the current funding trends in Mindanao,  and outlining practical steps for CSOs on how to rekindle interests, rebuild capacities, and revive the CO movement in a region plagued with peace and development constraints.

We, the members of The Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in the Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA), a network of development NGOs operating in the whole country, with many of its members working in Mindanao, during its 20th General Assembly last August 21-23, 2008 in Manila, would like to express our deep concern about the escalating loss of lives and deepening suffering among the people of Mindanao caused by the recent confrontation between MILF and Government forces.

Pursuant to the resolution in the 42nd Regional Assembly of PhilDHRRA Mindanao Network that is to strengthen network’s collaborative effort with the church, the network has established a strong partnership with the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro in pursuit of its collaborative agenda with the Church.

Consistent with the intentions of the network to boost the members’ capacities in policy research and advocacy, social technology development, knowledge sharing and social marketing, the network made a rabid shift in seizing the benefits of new information and communications technologies, while maintaining traditional ones, to develop fast and cost efficient systems for information exchange, storage and dissemination.
