2007 Accomplishment Highlights

The IPHC’s projects covered 13 municipalities across four regions: 11, 12, CARAGA and ARMM.

Community Managed Health Care

Forty six out of fifty four barangays under the IPHC’s programs are implementing HCF programs in thirteen project municipalities. Twenty seven out of those fifty four barangays have continuously allocated and released funds for health.

Families have been encouraged to practice and support sustainable agriculture, and more than half the families in the project municipalities are patronizing organic products. Almost the same number grow organic vegetables for their own consumption.

Participatory Local Governance

A total of 127 service oriented and income generating (49 service and 78 income generating) POs/Core Groups were formed and strengthened during the year. More than half of these addressed community needs through their programs/projects, although not all are capable enough to manage these projects.
At least 93 PO leaders from 8 project municipalities were elected in the 2007 elections (municipal and barangay); 11 were appointed in Lanao del Sur. Eighty resolutions/ordinances were enacted in response to PO/sectoral agenda raised.

Livelihood Enhancement

A total of 78 income generating POs/Core groups were formed and strengthened during the year. Some 52 POs implemented viable income generating projects of which 26 were availing of funds from formal lending institutions, market linkages and other funding agencies.

Education

A total of 163 high school and elementary sponsored children graduated this school year in San Miguel and Talaingod (93 high school & 70 elementary). Eight Day Care Centers in New Corella and San Miguel are functional (5 ERDA-assisted and 3 CFJ-assisted). Four Tribal Learning Centers were constructed and utilized for ECE and Grade 1 classes in four municipalities. Forty eight Out of School Youth graduated from the Acceleration and Equivalency Program and fifty five adult learners completed the Functional Literacy Program in four project municipalities.
