2007 Accomplishment Highlights

Sustainable Agriculture

In partnership with the DILG, CESCOD facilitated the preparation and budgeting of the Gender and Development (GAD) plan at the barangay level. Part of the GAD initiative was to expand the membership of the Local Women Council to include other groups and organizations in the city and affiliated the LCW with the Philippine Federation of Local Councils of Women.

Solid Waste Management

CESCOD is an active member of the SWM Committee of Dipolog City and has been helping the city government with the preparation and production of IEC materials for the solid waste management campaigns of the LGU. Seminars on waste segregation, recycling and other related concerns were conducted in the barangays of Dipolog.

Social Development Projects

With funding support from the PEF, development projects in rural communities were also implemented. Projects such as the installation of a potable water supply and sanitary toilets in rural communities were facilitated with counterpart funding mobilized from LGUs and local communities.

In its desire to help communities sustain their initiatives, CESCOD has provided technical assistance in packaging PO proposals, and facilitated in organizational development and resource mobilization initiatives of POs.

CESCOD also assisted in a medical mission conducted by visiting doctors from the USA and Manila.

Indigenous Peoples Program

CESCOD has provided a literacy program to IPs in several IP areas. It has provided assistance to the anti-mining campaign in Siocon and other mining affected areas.

Educational Assistance Program

Scholarship programs for college and vocational courses were also provided to potential scholars in partnership with Assisi Development Foundation. Trainings and seminars were also conducted with out-of-school youth in partnership with TESDA.

Participation in Local Governance

CESCOD has been very actively involved with local governance issues. It has conducted seminars on good governance with various organizations and LGUs. It has also actively engaged in the city’s government projects and programs.

It has been active in advocating for good governance and implement TAG joint projects with LGU and other NGOs. CESCOD has chaired the Transparency and Accountable Network of Dipolog City.
