Affected families of Barangay Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City anticipating distribution of the relief goods by PhilDHRRA Network members 7th January 2012
The flash floods that shattered lives, destroyed properties, changed the landscape of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City and many towns and cities that crossed the path of Tropical Storm Washi (Local name: Sendong) on December 16–17, 2011 was a disaster that will be remembered for a long time. It will be remembered not only because it was the worst natural disaster in the Philippines in 2011 but because it was the first time in 100 years that a typhoon of such magnitude traversed through Cagayan de Oro and Iligan before it exited the country.
